Vintage Quilts

WOHOOOOO!!!! I got lucky today!!!! I found these two quilts in the same store as the drink carrier. Now, I am VERY particular about the quilts I've been searching for. They have to have a certain feel and just kind of speak to me. These remind me of my great great grandmother's quilts from my teen years (13ish). I absolutely fell in love with these two! It must've been kismet that I walked into this store this morning. The daughter of the owner just happened to get her hands on these yesterday and put them out this morning. Vintage Drink Carrier

Hiya! I did some vintage hunting today and came across this baby. I have never in my life seen one until I was looking at Mish Mash's blog a few days ago. Well, it's all her fault I tell ya! lol I was in one of the few antique stores we have here looking for quilts. I passed this the first time I browsed the store. I went back to it another 3-4 times before it decided to jump into my pile of stuff on the counter BWAHAHAHAHAH!!!! I was so drawn to it. Antique Store Finds!

Well, I went to my first antique shop today. I was so excited to find some tablecloths and these old clothespins!!!! I have been looking everywhere for the clothespins for some time now. I'm still hunting a nice vintage winter tablecloth and the old Pyrex stuff. I am so tired of using the plastic storage containers they make now. We're replacing it way too often for my taste! lol Being in this antique store brought back so many memories of going up north to visit my great, great grandparents growing up. When I was a teen (about 13-14ish) I remember having to sleep in the shed (it was like a very small house, not like the metal things we have now, just so ya know....lol). My great, great grandparents still lived like the old days. I remember the silver kitchen table with the formica top and the chairs, the old type fridges and especially the quilts. I thought they were kind of funky back then but now I'm understanding a lot more about the way they lived back then. I would give almost anything to find one of my old grandmother's quilts from those days! Well...enough of my chattering! lol If you happen to know any information about the tablecloths in the pic, PLEASE!!!! let me know. I have no idea how to begin researching this stuff. Grow With Love

Hope everyone's having great Tuesday! Well, I usually don't post anything personal on my blog but, the last few days have been really hard for me. I HAVE to quit smoking, I no longer have a choice in the matter. Now, that being said, I have never smoked in my house or my car. I have fought so hard to keep the second hand smoke from reaching my DS because I do NOT want him having any repercussions from my bad habit. Anyway, I got hit with some very disturbing news last Fri. I have emphysema! Now, my husband smoked (quit a little over a year ago) twice as much as me and longer, my mother smoked, dad....you get the picture. Nonetheless, I'm the one that ended up with this disease. Please!! don't get me wrong, I would NEVER wish emphysema on anyone. It just adds to the joke I have about my being cursed...lol. Anyway, I will learn to live with this and pray that I can watch my son grow up to adulthood and beyond. I see the pulomonologist a week from today to see where I stand. I am really praying, very hard that this is just a short stint into the disease and can slow the progression without a lot of added med's or anything like that. So.....now that I am trying to quit cold turkey (the last few days haven't been going so well), I'm hoping I can make lots of cards to keep my mind focused on something besides smoking (or sleeping all day...lol). I haven't been too fond of this color but I think it's growing on me ;) I believe that I am now down to maybe my last 10-12 sets that have not been opened yet...WHEW! Flying High

Crossing Guard Thank You

I went waaay out of my comfort zone on this one...lol. I usually don't make bright cards but I wanted something different. The crossing guard for DS's school is a really awesome lady and very dedicated to her job. She is such a doll and joy to be around (especially for us non morning people...lol). Showering You with Thoughts

Since I've been on a kick of trying new things and a new style, I broke out some fabric today that I've been wanting to try. My first attempt didn't turn out at all. I'm sewing machine challenged I guess...lol. Anyway, I'm a really loving this PTI color, Hawaiian Shores. I also love it mixed with red and white. The red just makes it pop so well. I used 1/8" scor tape to tape the fabric to my cardstock and 1/4" scor tape to adhere it to my card base. Once that was completed, I attached my focal point with foam squares and stamped my sentiment. Thanks for looking and have a great day! :)

I totally forgot this Sunday was Mother's Day! I don't have any cards already made on hand so I whipped this one up. I have been using stamps that haven't been inked yet instead of just collecting them...lol. This was pretty simple to make but the cutting for the leaf and flower were pretty time consuming. I am really enjoying making CAS (clean and simple) cards right now. I've had this layout in my head for a while. It was very simple to make although trying to line up the fan without using a stamp-a-ma-jig was interesting. I still have yet to learn how to use one...lol! You can tell it's definitely handmade since I seem to not be able to get my sentiment straight either...rofl!!! I finally broke out some of my precious Amuse stamps..lol. I've been buying these for a while but have been more or less hoarding them. Well, no more. I have been on the hunt for this little gem for quite a while. I finally managed to get it in my grubby little hands (evil laugh here) and just had to get inky with it. Loooove!!! I'm telling you, these stamps are so much fun to create with. Anyway, I wanted to do something CAS (clean and simple). I'm finding that CAS cards are much more fun and easier for me to make. Thought For Today

I was watching Criminal Minds tonight. At the end, David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) said something that was very profound to me....

"scars remind us of where we've been but they don't have to dictate where we're going."

It serves as a good reminder. No matter where we've been or what we've been through, it does not make any excuse for what we do in the future.

A big lot of Amuse stamps for a great price! My wish list is HUGE and includes a TON of retired ones. Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop!!

WHEW! I wasn't sure I'd make it in time but here it is!!!! This month's challenge for Papertrey Ink's April Blog Hop is....tissue paper!!!

This is something I've never tried before and is out of my comfort zone...lol. That being said, I absolutely LOVED making this!!! It was much easier than I expected. When I sat down at my desk, I wasn't sure what I wanted to make and just winged it. Mother's Day is coming up soon so I thought I would get a jump start on my cards. I took my tissue paper and folded it in half to get multiple cuts, ya know...just in case...lol. After making my die cuts, I put a small amount of adhesive on the back to hold it to my paper for stamping. Stamping the images was a little tricky but not too bad. After getting all of them stamped, I went back and colored my leaves and flower. I attached the rhinestones to the backs of my butterflies for a little extra color. I assembled my card and here's how it turned out. Thanks for looking and enjoy all the wonderful eye candy throughout the rest of the hop! :)

CASEing Nichole

I absolutely ADORE this set!!! I have wanted it ever since I saw this card by Nichole Heady (Designer and Co-owner of Papertrey Ink). I have been following Nichole's blog for quite some time. The last couple of months, I have been using every single last penny of my crafting money to purchase their products!!!! They have releases EVERY 15th of EVERY month! The sneak peeks start the 10th and let me tell you!
